The megalithic temples of Malta and Gozo
Documents on the temples, coming from unknown civilizations, are already certified by 3800 B.C., and they are all characterized by an unmistakable plant with lobed cells. Here is a list of temples on the islands:
- Ggantjia (3600-300 a.C.), the most ancient temple, situated in Gozo;
- Hagar Qim (3000-2500 a.C.), the most extended of Malta temples, situated within short distance from Mnajdra;
- Tarxien (2500 a.C.), a complex of four temples;
- Mnajdra (2800-2500 a.C.), situated on Malta west coast, in dominating position above the sea
