
St. Mary (la Rotunda) is a parish church dedicated to the Assumption. It Is situated in Mosta, one of the biggest villages on the island, in the middle of Malta.
The church is known on the island as the rotunda, due to its impressive dome, the third biggest in Europe after Saint Peter’s in Rome and Saint Sophia’s in Istanbul. The dome was designed by the architect Giorgio Grognet de Vassé, and it dates back to 1833.
