Electricity: in Malta electric voltage is 240 V. The sockets have three holes as in the United Kingdom. The appropriate adapter for international sockets can be purchased in many shops and supermarkets on the island.

Currency: since January 2008 Malta has adopted the Euro currency.Euro Maltese


Shops opening times: shops are open from 9 am to 13 pm and from 16 pm to 19 pm. In tourist areas some shops may remain open until 22 pm. They are generally closed on Sunday and public holidays.

Drugstores: all drugstores follow the same opening times of shops. If you need a drugstore on Sunday, consult the list of drugstores available on the local newspaper Sunday Times.


Pets: with an appropriate passport it is possible to bring your pet with you, according to the country where you come from. For info please consult the website www.maltakennelclub.org. Pet must strictly follow the rules and laws in force.


Health assistance: every assistance is at the patient’s charge, therefore it is recommendable to stipulate an insurance for the whole duration of the journey. Malta has an excellent medical service, with modern hospitals and a network of peripheral doctors. There are two main hospitals on the island: St. Luke’s Hospital, St. Luke Road, Gwardamanga, tel. 21241251, 21247860, 21234101, fax 21240176, and the Craig Hospital in Gozo (Victoria, tel. 21561600, fax 21560881).
