Comino, a small island set between the bigger islands of Malta and Gozo, owes its name to the wild fennel (cumin) which grows in this territory. Cumin is 2.5 km long and 1.5 km wide. In winter it is deserted, and the only construction present on the island is a hotel, which stays open only during summer season.
There is no traffic on the island, and nature is wild and uncontaminated: sun, flowers, bushes, rocks and a transparent sea make of Comino a real exclusive oasis. On the west side the island forms, together with the tiny island of Cominotto, a narrow channel known as the Blue Lagoon, because of the turquoise clean waters. Those who love the sea will fall in love with this paradise, surrounded by stunning depths, very appreciated by divers.
Beside the Blue Lagoon, a little too overcrowded in summer, Comino offers other numerous beaches and coves, as beautiful as the Blue Lagoon, although less known. The same spectacle is guaranteed, and with much more space available!
