Water temperature ranges between 15° in winter and 25° from July to September. January and February are the coldest months: a strong wind coming from north-east ( the grigal), makes the weather conditions less pleasant. Winds are typical of Malta climate: the constant sea breeze is very pleasant in summer, but in winter the wind can shake the sea, causing the interruption of the connections with Gozo.
The best period to visit Malta: the geographic position of the island ensures hot temperatures from spring to late winter. Those who don’t stand hot temperatures should avoid travelling to Malta in high summer, and prefer spring or autumn. High season in Malta goes from June to September, and this is the period when prices are very high. The mid season (preceding or immediately following this critical period) includes the months of April, May and October. Low season goes from November to March. Air tickets are subject to a consistent increase during Christmas and Easter holidays.
